France to invest in monorail in Bandung Official

BANDUNG A French investor is interested in building a monorail network in Bandung. The local government hopes the US$170 million project would help ease the citys traffic problem.

Agus Gustia, a government official supervising capital investment and promotion, said the commuter network to be worked out would connect Cicalengka and Padalarang in Bandung regency to the city.

"They [French investors] have invested in pharmacy and insurance, and now they are looking to transportation in Indonesia, particularly in West Java," Agus said in Bandung on Wednesday.

He said the investors tendered their interest to the central government in Jakarta and would visit Bandung for further survey. -
